Sri Swamiji in Mexico City - Surya Deva Raga Sagara music concert

Parama Pujya Sri Swamiji visited Mexico from the 14th to 18th November 2018. 

Pujya Swamiji was in Mexico City to give a music for meditation and healing program titled “Surya Deva Raga Sagara” in the Jaime Torres Bodet auditorium at Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City. 

 

Pujya Swamiji travelled from the Koti Deepotsava program in Hyderabad on 12th November straight to Mexico via Bengaluru - Frankfurt and arrived in Mexico City at 7 PM on 14th November. 

 

Sri Swamiji was warmly received by Mexico devotees and US devotees at the Mexico City Airport. 

 

On 15th Thursday, Pujya Swamiji practiced music and rested. 

 

On 16th morning, Pujya Swamiji and devotees visited the Museum of Anthropology. He was received by Ms. Alejandra Cervantes Mascarena, the director of the museum. Many devotees followed Pujya Swamiji through the museum tour. An expert English guide selected by the museum led Pujya Swamiji and devotees around sprawling museum which is among the most important institution showcasing the Mayan civilization exhibits, many of them, rare original figurines. 

 

In the evening, Pujya Swamiji visited the the museum & Aztec ruins in Templo Mayor, where recent archeological excavations have unearthed structures dating back to 14th century Aztec reign.  Hundreds of devotees joined Sri Swamiji through the two hour tour. 

 

On Saturday, 17th November 2018, Sri Swamiji went around Mexico City in an open bus tour. 

 

In the evening, Pujya Swamiji’s first ever music for meditation program in Mexico was held in Jaime Torres Bodet auditorium in Museum of Anthropology at 7 PM. The stage was draped in red color and the two replica tablets of Sun God and Moon God as worshipped in Mayan civilization was placed in front of Pujya Swamiji’s synthesizer. On the back of stage, large projection of informational slides about Ragas played by Sri Swamiji and their efficacious area on human body was projected. Smt. Janani Raman welcomed Pujya Swamiji and spoke about Pujya Swamiji’s music briefly in English and elaborately in Spanish. Mr. Andres Marek from San Diego, USA who helped with the arrangement of this concert offered welcome garland to Pujya Swamiji. Pujya Swamiji spoke briefly narrating His first visit to Mexico in 2001 to celebrate Sankranti festival at the Mayan temple pyramid for Sun God. Sri Swamiji mentioned his Sankalpa 18 years ago to bless this land with His healing music. 

 

In the ensuing Surya Deva Raga Sagara, Sri Swamiji played Pranavaswarupam in Rushyaketu Priya Raga, Jyotirlingakaara Dwadasha Rupa Shiva Shiva in Hamsanadam Raga, and Jadachara Jagatam in Chandika Raga. Saptashva Rudham in Sarasangi Raga was the main healing Raga. 

Sri Swamiji sang the iconic Spanish poem of the well known Mexican poet Nezahualcóyotl “Amo El Canto Del Cenzontle” in Sarasangi Raga and the audience erupted in joyous and thunderous applause as this came as a super surprise. Sri Swamiji closed with Italic tune in Madhu Varshini Raga and Raga Ragini Mangala in Sama Raga. 

 

The spontaneous and surprising singing of Spanish poem in Sarasangi Raga by Pujya Swamiji struck the right chord in the audience and a standing ovation and thunderous applause reflected the tour de force of Pujya Swamiji’s healing music on the audience. The poem and its translation could be

 

Amo el canto del cenzontle, pájaro de cuatrocientas voces. Amo el color del jade, y el enervante perfume de las flores; Pero amo más a mi hermano el hombre."

After the concert, Sri. Ganapati Raman gave a powerful thanking speech in Spanish. Mr. Antonio Saborit, Director of Museum of Anthropology offered thanking garland to Pujya Swamiji. He thanked Sri Swamiji for blessing Mexico with his powerful Healing music. Ms. Alejendra Cervantes Mascarena, director of the board of trustees of Museum of Anthropology, spoke and thanked Sri Swamiji’s Vishwam Museum for sponsoring restoration works of historic figurines discovered during a recent archeology project. She presented to Pujya Swamiji a silver figure of a divine goddess revered in Mayan civilization. 

 

Sri. Hector Ruiz, devotee of Sri Swamiji from Mexico, honored the accompanying artists - Sri Jaitra Varanasi on violin, Sri Narasimham Mani on support keyboard, Sri. Shankar Ramesh on Mridangam and Sri Jaya Datta on drumpad and hand bells. 

 

In the audience were Sri. Aiyappan, Smt. Urmila Aiyappan, Sri.Krishna Kumar Malani, Smt. Divya Malani, Dr. Prakasa Rao, Smt. Nandini Rao, Sri. Manish Goel, Sri. Mehul Patel, Sri. Jairajh Maharaj, Sri.Srinivas Chundu, Sri. Ravikiran Anupindi and many other Trustees of Pujya Swamiji’s organizations. 

 

After the concert, Ms. Deidre Guevara Gallegos (Director Belles Artes Museum) concert hall met Pujya Swamiji and conveyed her exhilarating experience she had listening to Sri Swamiji’s music. She expressed her great joy to hear Sri Swamiji singing the Spanish poem that is greatly inspirational to Mexicans. 

 

As Sri Swamiji walked out of the concert hall, Sri Swamiji stopped by the the counter where food packets were being distributed to the attendees by volunteers of SDHS led by Sri. Puneeth Kumar and Sri. Abhilash and their friends from TCS. Sri Swamiji blessed them with a group photo. 

During the long walk from the museum to the car park, hundreds of Datta devotees followed Sri Swamiji most of them expressing the powerful feeling they felt during Sri Swamiji’s elaborate Alapana of Sarasangi Raga. 

 

On Sunday, 18 November, a Darshan program was arranged in the event hall in Intercontinental hotel. 

Sri. VR Raman of Chicago, USA, organizer of Pujya Swamiji’s visit to Mexico for the concert gave a powerful speech thanking Pujya Swamiji for having such compassion on his devotees that makes him travel across the globe to spread the message of harmony and goodwill through healing music. He remembered his father, late Sri. Krish Raman for teaching future generations of his family about the importance of Guru Tattva and devotion to Sri Swamiji. He thanked Yogini Kaliji for helping with preparations for the concert and the services of Sri. Praveen Kumar Narra in helping with all arrangements. Raman said - he learnt many lessons from the single minded dedication to Seva of his in the success of the program. He also thanked Sri. Hector Ruiz for handling many local arrangements. 

Pujya Swamiji spoke and remembered the service of Late Krish Raman and called on devotees to learn from the family of Sri. Krish Raman on how to train future generations. 

 

With this the wonderful and historic visit of Sri Swamiji to Mexico City concluded. 

 

Sri Swamiji flew from Mexico City to Dallas in the evening at 6 PM. The flight had dozens of Datta devotees returning to the United States with Sri Swamiji.
