Farmers Empowerment Procession - Welcome function

On 14 August 2018 Avadhoota Datta Peetham hosted the welcome function for the Farmers Empowerment Procession going from Kashmir to Kanyakumari to highlight the problems faced by the farmer community. Thousands of farmers from Mysuru, Chamarajanagara, Mandya & Ramanagara districts welcomed the representatives from Haryana, Delhi, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh states.
Pujya Swamiji lit the sacred lamp and inaugurated the program. On the dais were Kuruburu Shantakumar, President of Karnataka sugarcane growers association and other members of various famer groups. The programs commenced with well known "Raitha Geethe - famer's song". Sri.Shanta Kumar in his opening remarks expressed how happy he was when Sri Swamiji positively responded to the farmer commitee's request to hold the function in Ashrama. He expained to the audience the farming background of Pujya Swamiji's ancestors and the farms of Datta Peetham near Mysuru where paddy for Annadanam is grown.
Pujya Swamiji in His discourse said
You all have come to Ganapathy Ashrama. Ganapathy represents removal of obstacles. Infact, Ganapathy was the primordial deity who was created with earth (mud) by Parvati Mata. So, Ganapathy can be termed as the protecting deity of the faming community.
Sri Swamiji spoke to instil courage in the farming community and to give up suicidal thoughts while in difficult situation.
Pujya Swamiji left the function after the inauguration. The famers deliberations continued.
Annadanam was arrangef ro all visitors in Ashrama Annapoorna Mandiram.
