SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
 
Avadhoota Datta Peetham, led by the initiatve of Sri Swamiji engages in various social service activities, including Annadana - feeding the needy, medical camps (SGS Hospital Activities), distribution of free medicines, ambulance services, and flood relief activities. Sri Datta Humane Services (Volunteer wing of Avadhoota Datta Peetham), and Datta Senas (volunteer groups) have received respective state and national awards.
 
Sri Swamiji's Mission:
Sri Swamiji emphasizes that spiritual life includes service to those in need. This practice, called Karma Yoga, involves working selflessly and surrendering the fruits of one's actions to God, replacing the sense of personal "I" with the realization of the Supreme "I".
 
Sri Swamiji is the epitome of kindness and compassion. Sri Swamiji Himself distributes clothes to several people in Mysuru Ashram every year during His birthday celebrations. During May 2022, Sri Swamiji distributed thousands of sarees and dhotis to all the visitors to Mysuru Ashram, on the occasion of His 80th birthday.
 
DATTA PEETHAM'S SOCIAL WELFARE AND CHARITY PROJECTS
Avadhoota Datta Peetham provides medical, educational, vocational, and spiritual services to the needy. The volunteer force under the guidance and leadership of Sri Swamiji works without concern for personal gain, surrendering the fruits of their efforts to God.
 
EDUCATION
Avadhoota Datta Peetham supports over 1800 pre-school and high school students, having taken over and improved two dilapidated schools in 1989. Sri Swamiji has taken the resolve to provides financial and administrative support for providing education and publishing scholarly works to the needy. Apart from donating furniture and other infrastructure necessities, Datta Peetham also provides assiatance in constructing toilet facilities in impoverished schools.
 
AMMA VODI ~ A DESTITUTE WOMEN REHABILITATION CENTRE AT HYDERABAD
Sri Swamiji's vision is to provide comfort and care for destitute women aged 70 and above. Amma Vodi began operations on Yugadi day, 9th April 2005, and has already taken in over more than 20 women. The project aims to support 200 elderly women, gradually increasing intake to ensure effective management.
 
 
 
SGS VAGDEVI INTEGRATED SCHOOL (For Hearing Impaired)
Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Vagdevi Integrated School, maintained and managed by SGS Ashram, Girinagar, Bengaluru provides diagnosis, evaluation and intervention including educational intervention right from infant stimulation to vocational training, to the communication impaired children in an integrated setup.
 
 
 
 
MEDICAL SERVICES
SGS Hospital, Mysuru caters to the medical needs of the needy. The medical services available at the Hospital include Ayurvedic (ancient Indian system of medicine) outpatient and inpatient treatment facilities, Allopathic outpatient services, Dentistry, Physiotherapy, Cataract Operation programs, Diabetes Detection programs, Clinical Laboratory Services, regular medical checkup camps, and a free dispensary. Datta Peetham also provides ambulances for emergency medical transport in small towns. Free medical consultation, camps (Cancer screening, blood donation etc) are conducted across Datta Peetham's Ashram branches.
 
ANNADANA
It is a tradition that all visitors to Ashram receive free food thrice a day. More than one million people are fed annually in Mysuru Ashram and other branches elsewhere. During the birthday celebrations of Sri Swamiji in the month of May every year, Annadana is performed by the volunteer groups of Datta Peetham in various places like Mysuru, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Vijayawada amongst others.

PURNIMA ANNADANA
On every full moon day (Purnima / Pournami), Datta Peetham organizes Annadana, a charitable event where free meals are distributed to those in need.
 
TEMPLE CONSTRUCTION
Avadhoota Datta Peetham has constructed several temples in Mysuru city for the Safai Karmachari community (Dalits). It is also noteworthy that a priest from the Dalit community itself is trained by Datta Peetham to conduct the necessary rituals in the temple. Moreover, Sri Swamiji always extends a warm welcome to the Dalit community and other backward sections of the soceity for sharing their concerns and woes. Datta Peetham also offers assistance in rebuilding dilapidated temples and organizes mass marriages for the poor in backward areas.
 
EQUIPMENT DONATION
Sri Swamiji emphatically states that Service to Mankind is Service to God. Every year during birthday celebrations of Sri Swamiji, calipers, wheelchairs, and tools like sewing machines for self-employment to the needy are provided. Besides, Datta Peetham also provides financial help and skill set support to other organizations as per the need.
 
 
ADDITIONAL SOCIAL ACTIVITIES BY AVADHOOTA DATTA PEETHAM
Chathurmasya Activities:
During the sacred period of Chathurmasya, under the guidance of Sri Balaswamiji, visually impaired individuals are guided to perform Anagha Vratha, a religious observance, and are also given school bags, pens etc.
 
Free Summer Camp for Local Children:
A free summer camp is conducted for local children in Mysuru city, focusing on social responsibility awareness, shlokas, educational lectures, and Datta Kriya Yoga. For younger children, Bala Datta classes are held. For children aged 12 to 17 years, the Vidyarthi Gynana Bodha Sabha provides advanced learning opportunities.
Assistance from Datta Peetham & its branches during Covid-19 Lockdown (April & May 2020)
In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, Sri Swamiji directed Avadhoota Datta Peetham and its Ashrams across India & abroad to provide food support and other assistance to the poor and marginalized communities.
 


Sri Swamiji hands over Rs.18 lakh worth food grains to Mysuru District Administration

Financial and Food Aid:
Datta Peetham spent over one crore rupees, distributing grocery bags containing 23 items to various workers affected by the lockdown, including those who previously worked on Ashram projects, residents of Datta Nagar and Gundu Rao Nagar, auto rickshaw drivers, leprosy colony residents, 1500 poor priest families, 200 poor Muslim families, 400 musicians, and graveyard caretakers. Over 5000 grocery bags were distributed in total.
 
Rice, Dal, and Oil Donations:
Datta Peetham donated 30,000 kilos of rice, 3,000 kilos of dal, and 3,000 liters of cooking oil to the Mysuru Collector and the Commissioner of Mysuru City Corporation.
Protective Equipment Donations:
Thousands of masks and hand sanitizers were donated to the sweepers of Mysuru City Corporation to help prevent the spread of the virus among the Safai Karmacharis (street sweepers and sewer cleaners).

Monetary Contributions:
Rs. 15 lakhs were donated to the food team led by Sri Pratap Simha, Member of Parliament, Mysuru. The program, launched by Minister Sri Somanna, fed 4000 people daily from 25th March to 14th April 2020. Additionally, Sri Swamiji donated Rs. 5 lakhs to the PM Cares Fund of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
 
Food Distribution by Sri Datta Humane Services (SDHS):
SDHS volunteers provided cooked food from SGS Ashram, Dundigal to provide food to police staff under Rachakonda Police Commissionerate, migrant laborers, and the poor from 25th March to 5th May 2020, serving over 10,000 food packets daily during the lockdown period.

Vegetable distribution to the needy at SGS Ashram, Kaikaluru
 
During the 81st birthday celebrations of Sri Swamiji in May 2023, a Mahindra Supro van was donated at the Ashram premises. The vehicle, worth Rs. 10.5 lakh, was given to the Madilu Seva Trust, an NGO that aids tribal children at Government HPS, Sonahalli, H D Kote Taluk, Mysuru District. This van is meant to facilitate the transportation of tribal children from their villages to the school.
 
In addition, donations were provided to individuals recommended by the Department of Empowerment of Differently Abled and Senior Citizens, Government of Karnataka. The donations included special chairs for 25 people, standing frames for 13 children, rotator walkers for six children, rexine beds for two adults, educational toys for 30 children, and foldable adjustable walkers for five senior citizens.
