Jaya Guru Datta. Sri Guru Datta.

It is raining heavily. There is water everywhere. These are all signs of mini dissolutions that snowball into a big dissolution eventually. There are heavy rains in the Ashram too. So much loss in the work we are doing. No choice but to go through it.

Today’s Sookti
mukham padmadaḷākāram manaścandana śītalaṃ
hṛdayam kartarī tulyam ati vinayam dhūrta lakṣaṇaṃ

The last part of the sookti (ati vinayam dhūrta lakṣaṇaṃ) is used quite frequently, but the whole sookti together is good.
The face is beautiful and pleasing like the petals of a lotus blossom. The mind is aromatic, showering cool nectarous words on every occasion. The form, the words, and the conduct exude excessive humility. But the heart is like a sharp scissor or knife, ready to inflict harm. Such hypocrites impress even the most intelligent people in the room with the power of their words. So, one must be very careful with them. They sweet talk their way as they offer land, chit funds, bank deposits etc. This is akin to the fruit of the Audumbara (cluster fig). This fig looks very inviting with attractive color and sweetness. But when you open the fruit, you will only see insects inside. The people we are talking about are like this too. They are very pleasing and beautiful to look at, their words are very sweet and their actions are exceedingly humble. So, always be careful in the matter of such people.

Humility enhances a person’s beauty and protects them from difficulties while also bringing respect from society. But excessive humility is dangerous. Such people that display excessive humility are often trusted by authorities and those in power. The authorities are not able to discern the truth/untruth, falling instead for the flattery in those words. Such people usually work for politicians. They can change their mind and their opinion in a trite to please their superiors. They are skillful in hiding their true feelings from others. They are very competent in pretending compassion – as if their heart melts like butter – when they see another’s difficulty. Their mind seems aromatic like sandalwood. But their heart and therefore their actions cut like a sharp knife. One should be careful around such people. The honest people’s words may be a little hard to digest, but they ensure the welfare of their superiors.

The tiger in the garb of a cow - gōmukha vyāghra - attracts the deer to it. Immediately, the tiger hunts its prey. So, one must be careful around such people.

I am very happy to see you, for 30 minutes to an hour. When Tripura Rahasyam discourse starts, it might be 1.5 hours each day. We will have GoPuja here during Deepavali. I will be here in Mysuru Ashram for Deepavali. Do not waste money in fireworks. Use the money for good causes; you may send fodder for cows.
