Vaikuntha Ekadashi Message by Pujya Swamiji

Fasting is a Balancing Act in life
Today is Ekadashi This is also called Vaikuntha Ekadashi Every one knows the significance and rite of Ekadashi Fasting is the prime feature of this day. Do not think that fasting is unique to Indian Land and culture. This is prevalent in other faiths. Moslems and Christians too have this system.

Controlling Body thru food is an ancient good habit. Once you are fully loaded, you tend to become lethargic. When you do not consume sufficient food, you will not sleep. (Though you may nap, but deep sleep is not possible). Fasting is called as UPAVAASAM. Upa means near. Vaasa means stay. Upavaasa makes you stay nearer to divinity than other wise. That is why, our system prescribes fasting every fortnight or at least once a month. This also helps to balance your body thru detoxification. Studies on this point have validated our belief.
Vaikuntha is Maha Vishnu Himself. On this day, all the 3 crore deities assemble to have the holy glimpse of Lord Vishnu. He is the one who can make you attain salvation. Precisely this is the reason, why all the sages and seekers worship and meditate upon Him. He resides in Saligrama (the sacred black stone). That is why, we perform Saligrama Puja. Today you are lucky to perform the Saligrama Daanam to Sadguru. Chant “Om Namo Naarayanaaya”. This holy Mantra gives you the strength to withstand the pressures and difficulties of life. Ultimately, this Mantra makes you realise the Ultimate Truth.

People often say about charity. They vow that they would give back some portion of their wealth, if accrued to them further. If God gives them, they pay something back. This is the mentality of people. But do not forget, that God has made you to afford to do charity in your own capacity. You start first, without waiting for God to give you more and more. Once old water is flushed down, new water has scope for entry. Venkateshwara never lets you gloss over your vows of charity. He is Vaddi Kaasula Vaadu (Money Lender in Telugu). He will realise the principal amount along with interest in many forms. Do not postpone your charity plans.

Let us do Naama Sankeertana. This will cleanse your mind and body of negativity. True devotion asks for nothing in return except for unfettered love towards God. Attempt to make it your attitude. He will take care of your ambitions and right aspirations. Darshana is the most important of all deeds prescribed. You are indeed lucky to have Datta Darshana on this holy day.

Om namo Naarayanaaya.
Jaya Guru Datta
