Pujya Sri Swamiji awarded Honorary Doctorate by Karnataka Governor
On 31st October 2023, Pujya Sri Swamiji was honored with “Honorary Doctorate” by Dr.Gangubai Hangar Music & performing arts University. In a glittering ceremony in the Banquet Hall of the ornate Raj Bhavan in Bengaluru. The Governor of Karnataka & Chancellor of the university, Hon.Sri.Thawar Chand Gehlot and the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof.Nagesh.V.Bettakote honored Sri Swamiji and presented the citation and certificate.
The program began with singing of National anthem and Karnataka Rashtra Geethe.
Prof.Nagesh Bettakote, Vice Chancellor of the university, in his welcome address, welcomed Hon’ble Governor, Pujya Sri Swamiji and the audience.
Pujya Sri Swamiji who wore the black robe as per the university tradition, was honored with shawl, garland and given the Doctorate citation.
In His speech, Pujya Sri Swamiji spoke on the efficacy of music and urged everyone to listen to soothing music and help themselves.
The Governor said - Dr.Gangubai Hanagal music and performing arts university has honored many in the fields of music & arts. Today Sri Swamiji receiving honarary doctorate is heart felt - he said.
Sri Swamiji has earlier received doctorates from Vijayanagara Sri Kirshnadevaraya university, Bellary and World classical Tamil university, London. I congratulate Sri Swamiji for these achievements. Sri Swamiji’s life is a living proof of goodness. He has helped build animal and bird shelters, for the sake of humanity he has established ashrams and center in different parts of the world. Along with the meditative and therapeutic music, Sri Swamiji is also giving attention to Vedic traditions. Sri Swamiji has brought Sankirtan to many. Because of Sri Swamiji’s efforts many youth in the country today are finding the rich tradition of India. Sri Swamiji always tries to uplift humanity. While India forges ahead it is because it remembers its great past. I pray that Sri Swamiji’s services will be eternal. It is time we should conserve water and river streams. I pray for Sri Swamiji’s health and long life. Today is also the birthday of India’s steel man - Sardar Vallabai Patel. Today is known as Ekta Din.
Several officials of the university, and devotees participated in the program held from 12 noon to 12.30 PM.
