His Holiness Sri Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji of Mysore, one of the greatest spiritual leaders of the present day is an asset to India and the world at large. Sri Swamiji has consecrated 16 Datta Shrines - Shodasha Datta Kshetras representing the sixteen manifestations of Lord Datta in different parts of India.
Rishikesh Ashram, one of the 16 Datta Kshetras, is the abode of Sri Digambara Dattatreya Swami, installed on 4th September, 1989. Since its inception, this temple has been under the direct management of Avadhoota Datta Peetham in Mysore. The monthly expenses have been borne by the Mysore Ashram. It draws large numbers of Sadhus (ascetics), spiritual seekers, and pilgrims throughout the year, especially during festivities. Annadanam and Sadhu Bhandar are the main activities at this ashram. On scheduled dates every month like Purnima (full moon) and Amavasya (new moon), free food is served to all the visitors. Regular religious rituals are conducted.
